Joint Open Call: Photometria Photography Center (PPC) & Galería FotoCreativaBA

ABOUT NEARFAR

NEARFAR is an international initiative launched by the Photometria Photography Center (PPC) (Ioannina, Greece), dedicated to fostering bilateral cultural exchange and networking between the Greek photographic community and international exhibition spaces, galleries, and art platforms.

This reciprocal exchange program launches in partnership with Galería FotoCreativaBA (Buenos Aires, Argentina). Through this joint open call:

  • One (1) artist from Greece will be selected to present a solo exhibition in Buenos Aires at Galería FotoCreativaBA.

  • One (1) artist from Argentina will be selected to present a solo exhibition in Ioannina at the Photometria Photography Center (PPC) during 2027.

THEME

There is no predefined thematic restriction. Applicants are invited to submit a comprehensive solo exhibition proposal showcasing their personal visual language, contemporary vision, and artistic practice.

ELIGIBILITY

  • For the solo exhibition in Argentina (Galería FotoCreativaBA): Open to Greek photographers and visual artists (residing either in Greece or abroad).

  • For the solo exhibition in Greece (Photometria Photography Center - PPC): Open to Argentine photographers and visual artists (residing either in Argentina or abroad).

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES & PROCESS

Proposal Format: Applicants must submit a single PDF file named firstname_surname_NEARFAR2026.pdf, which includes:

  • Artist Statement: A concise text introducing the project and the concept of the exhibition (up to 300 words).

  • Photographic Portfolio: The images comprising the proposed body of work (no specific exhibition design/layout required), including titles/captions where applicable.

  • Biography & Contact Information: A short bio (up to 150 words), country of residence, email, phone number, and relevant links (website / social media).

  • Proof of Payment: A copy or screenshot confirming payment of the entry fee. The proof of payment may either be included as the final page of the proposal PDF or submitted as a separate PDF named firstname_surname_payment.pdf.

Files must be submitted exclusively via Smash (fromsmash.com):

  • Argentine applicants submit to: hola@fotocreativaba.com

!!ATTENTION!! Only applications with verified entry fee payments delivered via Smash within the respective deadlines will be evaluated.

The two (2) selected artists will be required, promptly following the announcement of results, to provide their final selected works in high-resolution digital format (TIFF or High-Res JPG, 300 ppi) ready for print production.

ENTRY FEE & SELF-SUSTAINED PRODUCTION

  • Entry Fee: €30 (or $30 USD respectively) per submission.

  • All revenue generated from entry fees is directly and independently managed by each host institution to fully cover local production expenses for the incoming artist's show (high-quality photographic printing, mounting, and installation). Selected artists do not incur any exhibition production or international shipping costs.

Payment Gateways:

  • Greek applicants: Processed via photobookstore.gr.

  • Argentine applicants: Processed via the online store of Galería FotoCreativaBA.

TIMELINE

  • Submissions Open (Both countries): October 1, 2026

  • Submissions Deadline for Greek Applicants: October 31, 2026 (23:59 GMT+2)

  • Submissions Deadline for Argentine Applicants: November 30, 2026 (23:59 GMT-3)

  • Curatorial Review Period: December 2026

  • Announcement of Selected Artists: Mid/Late December 2026 (via the official social media channels of both organizations and direct email notification to the selected artists).

  • Exhibition Periods: February 2027 onwards (at Photometria Photography Center in Ioannina and Galería FotoCreativaBA in Buenos Aires).

CROSS-CURATORIAL SELECTION

  • The curatorial team of Galería FotoCreativaBA will review the Greek submissions and select the featured artist for the exhibition in Buenos Aires.

  • The curatorial team of the Photometria Photography Center (PPC) will review the Argentine submissions and select the featured artist for the exhibition in Ioannina.

EXHIBITION DELIVERABLES & ARTIST BENEFITS

Each selected artist receives a comprehensive solo exhibition package covered entirely by the host organization:

  • Solo Exhibition Presentation: A dedicated solo exhibition with a duration of 3 to 4 weeks at the partner venue (PPC in Ioannina or Galería FotoCreativaBA in Buenos Aires).

  • Production & Installation: Full coverage of high-quality photographic printing and professional mounting suited to the exhibition space, alongside complete gallery installation and exhibition setup.

  • Curatorial & Promotional Material: Production of an exhibition room sheet / intro text and extensive online and media promotional coverage across institutional networks.

  • Exhibition Documentation: High-resolution photographic documentation of the installed exhibition, delivered to the artist and partner organization after the opening.

  • Zero Production Fees for Selected Artists: No production, mounting, framing, or shipping expenses are charged to the selected artists.

COPYRIGHT, LEGAL RESPONSIBILITY & TERMS OF USE

  • Artists retain full, exclusive, and unalienable copyright to their works at all times.

  • Photographers bear sole responsibility for securing any necessary model releases or location clearances. PPC and Galería FotoCreativaBA hold no liability regarding third-party intellectual property or privacy claims.

  • Selected artists grant both organizations a non-exclusive license to use the submitted and exhibited images exclusively for promotional, cultural, educational, and documentation purposes (catalogues, room sheets, press releases, websites, social media) in connection with the NEARFAR program, with full artistic credit always attributed.

  • The produced exhibition prints will remain in the permanent study and cultural archive of the respective host institution (PPC or Galería FotoCreativaBA), with the right to preserve, catalog, and restage them strictly for non-commercial, cultural purposes.

  • Submitting an application registers participants to receive relevant updates and open call announcements from the partner organizers.

Submitting an application implies full and unconditional acceptance of all terms and conditions outlined above.
