Brassaï

Brassaï knew how to see it all and, thanks to his attention alone, he offered a quality and an attraction that makes the world quaint and at the same time less alien; he photographs the Bastille promoters and Jockey Club members, the Istanbul Hammalians and Bonnard in his workshop; he notes the words of Marie, the maid, and those of Picasso. And the result is always as meaningful and rich.
He entered the story of photography as the Night Man. The beauty of the Parisian night led Brassaï to a medium of expression that, until then, had not touched him: photography. And so he was the first to photograph Paris, one night after the other.
